Zapier to n8n migration, without breaking what already works
Zapier is easy to start with, but per-task pricing grows with every lead, order and message. We move your Zaps to n8n, self-hosted or n8n Cloud, test them side by side and switch over only when the new workflows match the old ones.
Why teams migrate from Zapier to n8n
Zapier charges by task, so the bill rises as your business grows, even when the automations themselves don't change. n8n prices by workflow execution on n8n Cloud, or costs only the server it runs on when self-hosted. For high-volume, multi-step workflows, that difference adds up quickly.
Cost isn't the only reason. n8n lets you write JavaScript or Python inside a workflow, branch and loop without workarounds, run AI agents with your own models, and keep customer data on servers you control. Teams usually move once their Zaps have become long chains of filters, paths and formatter steps that are hard to follow.
A Zapier to n8n migration is not a copy-and-paste job. Triggers behave differently, some apps need HTTP requests instead of ready-made nodes, and error handling has to be designed rather than assumed. We plan the move Zap by Zap, so nothing stops working along the way.
Signs it's time to leave Zapier
- 01Your Zapier bill jumps every time you move up a task tier.
- 02Zaps have grown into long chains of paths, filters and formatters nobody wants to touch.
- 03You need code, loops or AI agents that Zapier makes awkward or expensive.
- 04Customer data has to stay on infrastructure you control.
How our Zapier to n8n migration works
- 01
Zap inventory and audit
We list every Zap, its trigger, steps, task usage and owner, and flag which to migrate, merge or retire.
- 02
Cost comparison
You see your current Zapier spend next to the expected n8n cost before you commit to anything.
- 03
n8n setup
Self-hosted n8n on your own cloud with backups, queue mode and monitoring, or a configured n8n Cloud workspace.
- 04
Rebuild and improve
Each Zap is rebuilt as a clean n8n workflow, often merging several Zaps into one, with error workflows and retries.
- 05
Side-by-side testing
Old and new run in parallel on real data until the results match, so the switch-over is a non-event.
- 06
Switch-over and handover
We move triggers and webhooks to n8n, turn the Zaps off and hand over documentation for every workflow.

Zapier to n8n migration FAQs
How much can we save by moving from Zapier to n8n?
It depends on your task volume and how many steps each Zap has. High-volume, multi-step Zaps usually save the most. We compare your current Zapier bill with the expected n8n cost during the audit, before you decide.
Will our automations stop working during the migration?
No. Your Zaps keep running while we build and test the n8n versions. We switch each workflow over only after the n8n version has produced matching results on real data.
Does n8n support all the apps we use in Zapier?
n8n has hundreds of built-in integrations, and any app with an API can be connected through an HTTP request node. We check every app in your Zaps during the audit and tell you up front if anything needs a workaround.
Should we self-host n8n or use n8n Cloud?
Self-hosting gives the lowest running cost and full control of your data, but needs a server and maintenance, which we can handle. n8n Cloud is managed for you. We recommend one based on your volume, data requirements and who will look after it.
Can you also migrate from Make.com?
Yes. We move Make.com scenarios to n8n the same way: audit, rebuild, test side by side and switch over.
How long does a migration take?
A handful of simple Zaps can move in one to two weeks. Larger accounts are migrated in batches, starting with the Zaps that cost the most.
